Kim Kardashian revealed on the latest episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that she has psoriasis. The reality star’s dermatologist diagnosed the 30-year-old during a shoot of her family’s television series. Kardashian’s skin condition leaves some wondering whether she will be able to continue with her modeling career.
The starlet’s doctor advised Kardashian that she slow her life down in order to help prevent the onset of future rashes. Stress is one factor known to aggravate psoriasis.
"My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photo shoots," Kardashian said, as quoted by CBS News. "People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect.”
Later in the episode, Kardashian was set to shoot a television commercial. Despite some skepticism over her appearance, a makeup artist was easily able to cover the rash so that the star could continue with the ad campaign.
The skin condition is an auto-immune disorder that causes skin cells to turnover quicker than normal. Psoriasis often runs in families; Kardashian’s mother also has the disorder.
